Satechi has announced the release of USB4 Slim NVMe SSD Enclosure perfectly matched to Apple's new M4 Mac mini ($100 off). Inspired by the Apple USB SuperDrive, the aluminum enclosure adds high-speed external storage, stacking neatly on top of the Mac mini for an integrated look.
Harnessing USB4 technology for blazing-fast transfer speeds up to 40Gbps (3840MB/s), this sleek, high-performance enclosure is inspired by the Apple USB SuperDrive. It supports multiple SSD sizes—including 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280—offering unmatched storage flexibility and expandable capacity of up to 8TB. Perfect for professionals handling large video projects, high-resolution photo libraries, or extensive gaming collections, it provides a cost-effective alternative to expensive internal upgrades. Instead of being limited by built-in storage, users can swap SSDs as needed, ensuring a future-proof solution for any workflow.
Notably, while the enclosure supports multiple SSD sizes, it does not support drives with heatsinks or double-sided designs. It measures 5 by 5 inches with a height of 0.63 inches. A thermal pad and bottom vents help manage heat. In the box, Satechi includes the enclosure, a thermal pad, a 15 cm USB-C cable, and a screwdriver for installation.
This release follows Satechi's previous accessory for the M4 Mac mini, the Stand & Hub with NVMe enclosure, which combined storage with front-facing ports. The new slim model focuses on high-speed storage in a more compact design, offering a more affordable alternative to internal storage upgrades.
The USB4 Slim NVMe SSD Enclosure is available now from Satechi for $119.99.
